Overview
Be Warrior Challenge is a nonprofit organization that is on a mission to find a cure for Adrenoleukodystrophy, (ALD) . Each year they lead a fundraising hike on Mount Rose in Northern Nevada. Funds raised by the hike support the work of the Van Haren Lab.
Challenge
Be Warrior Challenge has a dual mission: to honor the memory of Ben ‘Cole’ Anderson, who sadly passed away from ALD, and also to raise money to find a cure so that no other child needlessly suffers from this condition. Be Warrior Challenge needed a website to better reach the community with information about their annual fundraising hike. They also want to inspire people to face their own challenges with courage and dignity like Ben did.
Solution
I developed a customized website that shares photos of Ben and his family, as well as providing information about the annual hike. A registration form was set up where supporters can register for the hike and purchase hike day T-shirts. Additionally, there is a page where supporters can take on “virtual challenges” if they are unable to participate in the hike.
The website links to a donation platform where supporters can contribute financially. A ‘Progress Bar’ showcases fundraising efforts and tracks how close they are to reaching their goal. The site also includes a blog where visitors can read inspirational posts and share memories about Ben.
